Serve your community as a public safety specialist. PSSs are non-commissioned employees who support the public safety officers of the department with non-enforcement duties.
Duties Include:
1. Assisting in emergency communications
2. Assisting officers in non-enforcement services such as: security and safety audits, scene support, building inspections, taking non-emergent reports, basic education courses
3. Emergency management and planning
4. Community outreach
Pay and Benefits:
1. Salary ranging from $42,000-$64,000, dependent on additional certifications and time in service
2. Full medical and dental insurance coverage
3. Additional stipends based on certifications obtained
4. Free access to all training offered by LDP DPS
5. Standard workdays Monday-Friday 9AM-4PM
6. Additional stipends for assistance with events outside of regular workdays
Requirements:
1. Associate's degree in emergency management or related subject (all focuses will be considered on a case-by-case basis)
2. Negative drug test-with recurring, random testing
3. Must not have been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor above class C
4. Must obtain CPR, AED, First Aid certification within 60 days of start date
5. Must possess or obtain a standard state issued driver's license
6. Must reside in Lower Duck Pond or the surrounding county
